Henry Pearson

Biography

Born in Sunderland in 1922, he served with the 8th Battalion DLI during the Second World War. He was awarded the Military Medal for his bravery during the Battle of El Alamein in November 1942, when he was severely wounded.

After recovering, Corporal Pearson returned to 8 DLI and was killed in action at the Battle of Mareth on 22 March 1943. He was 24 years old. He is buried in Sfax War Cemetery in Tunisia.

Henry Pearson's mother went to Buckingham Palace to receive his Military Medal from the King.
